Happy Birthday P to the Dizzle

It's official. We no longer have an infant.
Our little boy is all growed up.
The little man had a pretty good day:
Ammon thought it would be funny to put him in bed with me when he left at for work at 4 am for "Breakfast in Bed."

It was a fun day filled with a trip to Portland for the Children's Museum, lots of playing, snuggling, chasing Scout, cake, and presents... and...
BEST of all: getting to do it all with Nana and Papa who came all the way from Utah to help us celebrate!!! There trip out here made his birthday so fun! As most of you know, traditionally, in the Polynesian culture, a big luau is thrown when a baby turns one. Scout had a big 'ol shindig on the beach, at the same place Ammon and I had our wedding reception. Lots of food, lots of friends, lots of fun.

And for Porter. . . well. . . Sorry kid.

He had to settle for dinner at a Hawaiian restaurant.

With grandparents and fun friends- does that count for anything?(what do you think? Is Scout done with taking pictures? And no. We didn't bring Costco pizzas to dinner. Only box I could find to bring the cupcakes in)

Well, I guess we just owe him one rock'n 2nd birthday party. But. Let's be honest. His birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas. The chances of him getting a stellar birthday party ever. . . don't hold your breath too long on that one. Regardless, we sure do love this little nugget, and can't imagine our lives without him. How great life is with Porter in it!

Instead of getting all mom-gushy on you, and telling you how much in love I am with this little boy (I'll save that for later), how about we just look at some cake pictures. Because really, isn't that the most important part of turning one? I always love me a good, messy, cake picture! So, here are a few gems:

Oooh. The anticipation:

And the clean up:

Sorry Porter. You may be one, and oh so mature now, but that doesn't mean you've escaped the embarassing- naked in the sink picture. Who knew you'd still fit in this tiny sink?

I can't even explain how happy this little boy has made us. How glad I am that he chose to come to our family a year ago. We love you Porter!

Beautiful pictures as always. And don't worry about the party. He'll appreciate - and remember - the parties of the next years.
