You Thought Your Mom Was Embarassing

Alright- so maybe everyone doesn't think this is as funny as I do, but I had to post it. I got stuck chaperoning my brother and sister's middle school dance tonight. Another mom chaperoning apparently felt the music in her bones, and could not contain herself any longer. She went out in the hall to 'get jiggy with it, and I was able to capture this gem on video (reflected off the mirrors.)

I'm telling you- this video is priceless.

Chaperoning the dance. . . so worth it!

video
The best part of it all was she was the sweetest ,most innocent looking lady in the entire room. . . little did we all know. . .

video
I am saving this video. In 15 years when Scout is embarrassed by me I'm going to show her this video. . . and remind her that at least I'm not doing this!
video

To all those moms out there- if you've got it, you may as well flaunt it. Who cares who is watching.

The Happiest Place on Earth!

Once upon a time, in a land far far away two girls went to a magical place. . . a Magical Kingdom that is. There they met thier fairy godmothers, who granted them each three wishes. Prince Charming was unable to come, as he was off fighting the evil stepmother. The girls had an enchanted time, and of course. . . lived happily ever after. Wish #1: We got to meet Lightening McQueen and Maeter.
Look at us in Radiator Springs. . . "the cutest little town in Carburetor County!"
Wish #2: Scout made a new friend; her and Boo were instant buddies.
Watch out Boo. . . I'm thinking Monsters Inc. is going to be our Halloween costume this year.
It's a toss up, would Scout make a better Boo, or Ammon a better Sulli? Good question.
Wish #3: Scout's first carousel ride. Where else do you get to ride on an overly excited, slightly scary, sea otter. Only Disneyland. Scout's obviously not as excited as the otter.
Nice pose Scouter.

Look what our daughter learned to do. Pretty impressive huh? How many baby girls can pee like that? . . . Even with a diaper on! I knew she'd make us proud.
Right after this picture I got yelled at because Scout didn't have on a shirt or shoes. Come on- how many babies actually wear shoes? Leave it to me to get in trouble at Disneyland.
This was a little fountain for kids to put their hands in. Why just get your hands wet when your entire body fits in it. Whoops- I got yelled at again for putting Scout in this fountain.
Come on Scout- no crying. This is the happiest place on earth.

I Love San Diego

It has been a fun first week for us in San Diego. It has taken a while for us to move our stuff in and get adjusted, but we've been able to spend a few days around the city.

Each Tuesday there are free museums at Balboa park. The museum we went to was terrible, but the park itself is beautiful. Scout was just getting over having a high fever for three days, so she is a bit out of it in all the pictures.
While she was soaking up the sun, we met a family from Utah. We ended up talking for a while, and found out the father is the San Diego temple president. Not too shabby company.
This is Scout. . . refusing to look at the camera. What a stinker.

Sometimes a girl just needs some alone time to think.
After Ammon's first day of school, I took him down to Ocean Beach for the rest of the day to celebrate. We went and had hamburgers and milkshakes at Hodads. Yummm, can't beat that.

Look at the size of that milkshake. Scout was one happy girl. . . watching her devour that shake leaves no doubt that she's my daughter. Atta girl!

Viva Cholla Bay!

It has been a while since the last post; we have been so busy with the move, and getting re-aquanted with San Diego. A lot has gone on, so we might have a few posts right in a row.

Last week week we were able to spend 5 days at my grandparents beach cabin in Mexico. My grandparents were nice to let us tag along; initially I pretty much invited Ammon and I, and then within a few days, the whole gang decided to come as well. Poor grandparents; expecting a quiet weekend with the two of them, and then 8 of us showed up. They were great and it turned into an amazing trip.

The cabin is just a few feet from the beach. The beach is unlike any other; each day the tide goes out and then comes back in twice. When it goes out. . . it's out (about 2 miles out). When the tide is out you can walk along for miles and find all types of crabs, shells, and other ocean goodies that did not make it with the tide. Then around noon the tide starts creeping back in. Within an hour, it looks like a regular ocean right ouside the cabin door. Crazy huh?

It was a tough trip. Look at how hard Ammon is working.

Kailee and Taylor loved having Scout around. . . and she didn't seem to mind their company either.

Look at how cute. Thanks Brandon and Mich for letting us use Cosette's cool floatie (this one was much cooler than what we bought for Scouter at Walmart for $2.00).

We didn't know at the time, but apparently as this picture of Scout in the sand was being taken, her little bum was in the process of completely getting eaten by sand fleas. Ammon picked her up, and we noticed there was blood dripping down her leg. We look in her suit, and there were 30 little maggot looking things crawling all over. It was awful, blood everywhere. Scout's a little stud, she didn't even cry once. Now we know. . . watch out for Mexican sand fleas! Thank goodness Pig Flu isn't transmitted thru fleas.

Look at her, styling in her suit, hat, and even complete with baby sunglasses. Too bad blogs don't have a 'scratch and sniff' option, then you could all get the entire experience by smelling how Scout completely reeked of sunscreen. Got to protect that pure baby skin! (You all should know that Ammon didn't want me to put sunscreen on her: he said she needs to get some sun so she can turn into the "brown baby she was meant to be." Oh Ammon.)

Scout and her cousin Cosette hangin out. These two weren't too into eachother, they mostly just stole eachother's toys. Maybe someday. . .

Scout playing Peek-A-Boo with Grandpa. I love this picture.

Hmmmm, Grandma's famous tacos! Pretty sure we each downed at least 10 of them (calories don't count right?. . . we're on vacation). I tell you, those tacos are like little pieces of goodness wrapped in a tortilla.

What a good picture to end on. It doesn't get any prettier than a 'Cholla Bay Sunset.'

Ammon was worried that they wouldn't let him back across the border. Don't worry- he made it.

Also, no worries. . . we all made it home Pig Flu free.
