Before you start to think that I am taking our blog in a different direction with new risque and akward posts, let me explain... So we've started a new little trend in The Malufau home recently. Usually Cass, Scouter and I try to go out on a "date night" at least once a week. We rotate each week who has to plan it but after our third week in a row of going to dinner and a dollar movie Cassidy strongly recommended that I get a little more creative in my date planning. We also rotate each week who gives the lesson for Family Home Evening and she informed me that an Ensign article and scripture were getting a bit boring as well. I told her that it was her date night this coming week and that if she wasn't satisfied then she was welcome to give me an example of what she would prefer (This was quickly followed up by my FHE lesson on how if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all).
So Wednesday night I came home to China in our living room. There was a "Great Wall," a place for me to sit on the floor and eat my rice, two beautiful girls in Kimonos and Kung-Fu Panda on the TV. It was a lot of fun and admittidly better than the dollar movie.
The next week on our date night we went camping, well sort of, we cooked hot dogs and smores in our parking lot and then Cass set up our tent in our living room and we watched "Lost."
Then this past Monday we had another theme night for FHE. We had a picnic Pioneer style and had "Nauvoo Night." Cass had been asked by the Relief Society in our ward to speak to them as Emma Smith for the Relief Societies birthday. Cass has been researching and studying about Emma for a while now and another sister in the ward had a pioneer costume for Cass to wear so we played dress up and had a good time.
Who knows how long our theme dates and FHE's will last, but it's been a lot of fun and it's made our dates and FHE more entertaining.
