Spicing up our Date Night/FHE!

Before you start to think that I am taking our blog in a different direction with new risque and akward posts, let me explain... So we've started a new little trend in The Malufau home recently. Usually Cass, Scouter and I try to go out on a "date night" at least once a week. We rotate each week who has to plan it but after our third week in a row of going to dinner and a dollar movie Cassidy strongly recommended that I get a little more creative in my date planning. We also rotate each week who gives the lesson for Family Home Evening and she informed me that an Ensign article and scripture were getting a bit boring as well. I told her that it was her date night this coming week and that if she wasn't satisfied then she was welcome to give me an example of what she would prefer (This was quickly followed up by my FHE lesson on how if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all).

So Wednesday night I came home to China in our living room. There was a "Great Wall," a place for me to sit on the floor and eat my rice, two beautiful girls in Kimonos and Kung-Fu Panda on the TV. It was a lot of fun and admittidly better than the dollar movie.

The next week on our date night we went camping, well sort of, we cooked hot dogs and smores in our parking lot and then Cass set up our tent in our living room and we watched "Lost."

Then this past Monday we had another theme night for FHE. We had a picnic Pioneer style and had "Nauvoo Night." Cass had been asked by the Relief Society in our ward to speak to them as Emma Smith for the Relief Societies birthday. Cass has been researching and studying about Emma for a while now and another sister in the ward had a pioneer costume for Cass to wear so we played dress up and had a good time.

Who knows how long our theme dates and FHE's will last, but it's been a lot of fun and it's made our dates and FHE more entertaining.

March Madness!!!

Well it's that time again and it's one of my favorites. Usually this is when Cass takes her annual trip to San Diego because she's sick of the snow and winter here in Utah and I spend a lot of time on the couch watching games, but this year the winter's been unusually bearable. Either that or Cass has adapted more, but anyway it looks like she is going to stick it out here with me.

Every year I always create a group on ESPN.com for family and friends to fill out brackets and I figiured since we have a blog this year I'd extend the invitation here also. We've done it for the past two or three years and each year the turnout has gotten bigger and bigger. I believe we had about 30 entries last year. Cass whooped me and took home the Championship last year by beating my dad on the very last game and she likes to remind me of that whenever the topic comes up. It's pretty funny how she can win when her criteria for who to pick is based on who has cooler looking uniforms, who has the better mascot, and where she would most like to go on a vacation. It doesn't help that I always seem to rationalize Duke going all the way either. Oh well, sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your fanhood.

Anyways... If you are interested please sign up. The more the merrier and you can fill out up to five brackets per person. Just go to ESPN.com and create a profile if you don't already have one. It's free and all you have to do is create a username, password, and put in your email address. Once you've done that click on the "Tournament Challenge" and start filling out your bracket. When you've finished your bracket you'll see a link to "create or join a group." Click on that link and you will see a list of every group. You will need to search for the group Cameron Craziness and click on it. It's a private group so you will need a password and the password is, bball. This may seem like a lot of instructions, but it's really not that hard and you can do it all in just a couple of minutes. The brackets lock and you won't be able to get in once the games actually start on Thursday so make sure and do it by Wednesday. Here is a link that will take you directly to the group.

Well, good luck to everyone who wants to join have fun and let the madness begin!
