Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas everyone! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the snow, I love the decorations, I love everything about Christmas. I hope you all have a great Christmas too. We'll be going down to San Diego this year for Christmas, it will be a short trip but it should be a lot of fun. It will be great to see Cass's family again and even though it won't be a white Christmas I'm looking forward to the warm weather. Anyways, I thought I would post our Christmas Card here for you, sorry if you didn't get one, but if you didn't, it's only because we didn't have your address. Merry Christmas!

Aloha and Hello, Dear family and friends,

It’s hard to believe that it’s that time again.

It seems like we just wrote our last Christmas card,

A new poem each year might really get hard.

Where do we begin? It’s been quite a year,

We’ve been so blessed to have so many of you near.

So much has happened, there’s so much to share,

From the highest of high’s to the lowest despair.

As many of you know, we were expecting this year,

We were so excited to have a new “Malufau” here.

But while in San Diego, she arrived four months in advance,

She had bleeding in her brain, not giving life much of a chance.

But we had her for six days, and she taught us so much,

With such a special spirit, there we so many lives she touched.

Cass and I are closer now and so much more in love,

All because of our Cael, who’s home with our Father above.

Cassidy made it back and finished school just in time,

To graduate in August, and how she did it still boggles my mind.

She now works for the state, putting her degree to good use,

Saving the Utah Valley children from all kinds of abuse.

Between work, flying, and school, I don’t spend much time at home,

And it’s sad to think that same line might make next year’s poem.

But I just keep going, trying to imagine the end in sight,

When I’ll be finished with school and make my first Airline flight.

It’s been quite a year, but we still made it through,

We’re doing just great, and we wish the same for you.

We’ve been so blessed and we know this December,

That it’s all because of our Savior, whose birth we remember.

Here's another Christmas Card from Cassidy, while she was at the north Pole.

Happy Birthday To Me!

So it was my Birthday a couple of weeks ago. I know that I'm a little late with this post but I am still playing catch-up and should be pretty much set after this one. I just wanted to share a brief overview and get some pictures up so you can celebrate too. This year was awesome, Cassidy kind of made a weekend out of the event so it actually seemed like 3 or 4 days of Birthday. The actual date was Monday the 19th but everything kicked off on the Saturday before. Cass had a Baby Shower to go to up in Salt Lake so I dropped her off and went Christmas shopping. I got a few things for Cass and picked her up at noon.
She surprised me and made reservations for us to stay up in Park City that night so we headed up I-80 and pulled into Park City just before 1:00. It was still early to check in so we went to the outlet's to do more Christmas shopping and went to a movie, "The Martian Child." It was good, a lot better than I thought it would be, Cassidy loved it because she said it was a good Social Work movie. We headed to the Hotel after that and checked in and then went to dinner at our favorite place to eat up in Park City, it's on old historic Main Street up there and it's called "Main Street Pizza & Noodle," so the next time you're in Park City you should check it out. We usually just get a large pizza and share it so I don't know if anything else there is good, but there are a couple huge tv's with football games on and the pizza is really good, at least we seem to think so. I also want to mention our Hotel too in case any of you go to Park City and want a nice place to stay. We've probably stayed at this place 4 or 5 times and we've gone up there for my birthday for the past couple of years. We went up for Cassidy's birthday this year too as you've seen from earlier posts. The place we stay is called the Park City Peaks Hotel. It's really nice. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are HUGE. It's also got a really nice pool that is both indoor and outdoor with indoor and outdoor hot tubs too. Usually we book it through Hotels.com or Travelocity or something and it's usually anywhere from $69.00 to $99.00. I'm sure those are Summer prices and they would be a whole lot more during ski season, but it's nice during the summer and we have gone as late as November too. I'm not promising a 5-star place but we like it. Anyway, enough free advertising for Park City, we came back Sunday morning and ended up going to Cassidy's aunt and uncles in Salt Lake for dinner that night. She didn't even know it was my birthday, but she still made me my favorite dinner ever, Chicken Pillows, email me if you want the recipe. We had cake for desert and they even threw some candles on it and sang Happy Birthday to me.
The next day was my actual birthday, but it felt like I had already had a birthday the two days before. I spent it at work and thought it would be a pretty uneventful day, but Cassidy showed up at work with ballons, cookies and milk. So everyone knew it was my birthday and we celebrated again. That night we went to a place in Lehi called Porter's Place. It was decorated like an old western bar and was all about Porter Rockwell. Cassidy and I, her little brother and his friend and Richard, one of my friends from work all went. The three of us boys all got "The Destroying Angel." A giant burger of one pund of beef. It was huge, but we all finished it off without any problems. All in all it was a great weekend, and a birthday that I won't forget. I can't wait until next year.
