Trains and Frills

Here is a typical day in the Malufau home:
Ammon makes a valiant effort to expose Scout to balls, airplanes, trains, more airplanes, etc. .
She enjoys all of these things. . .
But she still casually reminds us that she is a girl.
(She came walking out of her room the other day wearing not one, not two, but three headbands)

He's Making A List

Just a little Christmas cheer to brighten your day. . .
(unless you're Scout) Apparently Scout is not a fan of Santa.

As if the ward party's Santa wasn't traumatizing enough. . .

We tried again.
. . . Still not a fan.
A very important part of Christmas. . . writing to Santa.
What was on her list?
~A baby doll
~Top Ramen soup
~A bike
and. . .
~A Puppy!! (here's hoping)

At the North Pole, where else?

Oh Christmas Tree!

Alright everyone. . . I am finally coming out of the bloggin closet. Quick update: Ammon and I are officially Washingtonians!!! We are all moved in, and so far, are loving the Vancouver/Portland area. Ammon loves his job, and Scout loves exploring her new home.

This time of year was a great time to move to the Pacific Northwest. It is so fun seeing christmas tree lots every couple of blocks- one of the perks of living in Washinton.

We were still living out of boxes, but we decided we needed a tree. So, instead of unpacking the essentials (i.e. bathroom supplies, kitchen pots, clothes, etc) we put all that aside and unpacked. . . CHRISTMAS!!

We went to this lot that is literally 200 yards from our front door. Not too bad eh?

Scout took the 'tree picking' business very seriously. She had to make sure the trees were fresh, and smelled good.

Is that not the cutest smile you've ever seen?

A perfect little tree for a little Scout.

The worker probably thought we were crazy. We walked around the lot for 30 minutes, took pictures of Scout, then once we finally picked a tree, we asked him to take our picture. Newbies! As if that wasn't embarassing enough, when we went to tie the tree on our little corolla, I guess we were doing it backwards, so he came over to help us. Lesson learned, tie the tree with the trunk towards the front. Embarassing.

Happy Birthday Ammon!!!

What's the better than celebrating your birthday?. . . Celebrating it TWICE!!

Last week while we were still in San Diego, my family surprised Ammon with a birthday party (a week early). They had an amazing dinner of steak (fondu style), and all of Ammon's favorites: lots of meat, corn on the cob, fried rice, and more meat (I don't know where Scout gets it from?)
After dinner, it was presents and cake time!
Avery helped Ammon blow out the candles.
Check out the airple cake my mom and Brittany made. Pretty impressive. Those two are good.

Ammon scored on all types of cool presents (90% of them airplane related). He was one happy guy, everyone seems to know him so well.
Avery was so nice and wrapped up some of her Halloween candy for his present.

I love this picture. You know, just my mom, trying out Ammon's new pilot goggles and headset.
Avery took a turn in the cockpit (aka Ammon's lap, wearing his new loot)
Kailee and Taylor were so excited to give Ammon a big bag of Doritos. They know him well, he loved it!

The Fam-Damly

Then on his actual birthday, we had a birthday dinner for him at Texas Roadhouse. There were tons of people that came to help celebrate. It was a loud and crazy dinner, and SO much fun.
With 9 adults, 2 kids, and 3 babies, it might take more than one table.
The first table:
And the second:
So many came to help us celebrate. Ammon's sister, Aubri, husband Ruben, and daughter Ellie (bottom left and right), his Uncle Dave, Aunt Jackie, and boys Jaxon and Tyson (top right), and his mom (top right).
The food was great. Ammon loved that he got to get is catfish (which he loves, but I think it totally stinks. Ammon didn't get too many 'birthday kisses' from me after than dinner.
Well worth it for him).
Our great friends Kevin, Rhiannon, and Reed came up from Orem.

Our little carnivore. Dug into the chicken when no one was looking. Seriously, this girl means business when it comes to meat!

Thanks to all those who made Ammon's birthday so great. We are so loved, and feel so blessed to have so many incredible people in our lives.

Tap Dancing Grandma

One of my best parts of being in Utah was being able to go up to Ogden to visit my grandma. It was so great to be able to spend some time with her, she is the cutest lady you have ever seen. She's just over 4 feet tall, and weighs 80 pounds soaking wet.
Both Grandma and Scout loved giving eachother hugs.

Classic Grandma face, I love it.

Scout had a great time with Grandma. We took Grandma to the DI (one of her favorite stores), at one point I looked down at Scout, and she had her hand up towards Grandma; she was just waiting to hold her hand. It was so cute, the two of them held hands walking all around the store.

Thursday morning Scout and I walked to watch Grandma at her tap dance class. Scout's wearing Grandma's beanie, and thinks it's pretty funny.

Here's a little video of Grandma dancing (she's the one in the purple pants). She's just so cute. All of these grandmas loved having Scout watch, and they even were showing off a bit by the end. Very impressive for a bunch of grandmas.
